Method

Churro Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Churro Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until dough forms. Allow it to cool slightly.

  3. 3

Add the egg to the dough and mix until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

Frying the Churros

  1. 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

Pipe strips of dough (about 4-6 inches long) into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding.

  3. 7

Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side, then remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Coating the Churros

  1. 8

In a shallow bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.

  2. 9

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serving the Dish

  1. 10

Serve churros warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side or on top.
