Preparing the Burger Patty
1. Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
2. Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

3. Heat the Grill or Pan
Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.
4. Cook the Patties
Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them over.
5. Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

6. Toast the Buns
While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
7. Build the Burger
Spread 2 tablespoons of burger sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf, a cooked patty with melted cheddar, a slice of tomato, and pickles on top. Finally, spread another tablespoon of burger sauce on the top half of the bun and place it on top to close the burger.
