Marinara Sauce

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

Once boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt.

Add 2 cups of pasta to the pot.

Cook the pasta according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Marinara Sauce

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the saucepan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Pour in the 28 oz can of tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon.

Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine

Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked pasta to the saucepan with the marinara sauce.

Toss the pasta in the sauce until well-coated.

Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil or grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
