Pasta

  1. 1

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

Once boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  3. 3

Add 2 cups of pasta to the pot.

  4. 4

Cook the pasta according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  5. 5

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 7

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the saucepan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 8

Pour in the 28 oz can of tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon.

  4. 9

Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

  5. 10

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine

  1. 11

Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked pasta to the saucepan with the marinara sauce.

  2. 12

Toss the pasta in the sauce until well-coated.

  3. 13

Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil or grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
