Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Select a lowball glass and place it in the freezer to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Muddle the Sugar

In a mixing glass, add 1 teaspoon of cane sugar.

  3. 3

    Add the Bitters

Add 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters and 1 dash of Orange Bitters to the sugar in the mixing glass.

  4. 4

    Muddle the Mixture

Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently mix the sugar with the bitters until the sugar is dissolved.

  5. 5

    Add Bourbon

Pour 2 ounces of Bulleit Bourbon into the mixing glass with the muddled sugar and bitters.

  6. 6

    Stir the Mixture

Fill the mixing glass with ice (preferably large ice cubes) and stir gently for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute the drink.

Serving

  1. 7

    Strain into Glass

Remove the lowball glass from the freezer and place the fat ice cube inside. Strain the stirred cocktail over the ice cube.

  2. 8

    Garnish

Express the oils from the orange twist over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a gentle twist. Then place the twist in the drink as a garnish.

  3. 9

    Serve

Enjoy your Old Fashioned cocktail neat over the fat ice cube.
