Preparation
- 1
Prepping the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the baby back ribs by gently sliding a knife under the membrane at one end, then pulling it off with your hands.
- 2
Apply Dry Rub
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture generously over both sides of the ribs. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Cooking
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 4
Bake the Ribs
Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover the ribs with another piece of aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
- 5
Prepare Barbecue Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and let simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 6
- 7
Broil
Increase the oven temperature to broil. Place the ribs back in the oven and broil for 5-7 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.
Serving
- 8
Slice and Serve
Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Slice between the bones to separate the ribs and serve with remaining barbecue sauce on the side.
