Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Begin by cleaning the whole bamboo fish under cold running water. Pat dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the green bell peppers, onion, and mince the garlic and ginger.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a stone pot or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.

  4. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

Add the minced garlic, ginger, and diced onion to the pot. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until fragrant and the onion is translucent.

  5. 5

    Add the Fish

Gently place the cleaned bamboo fish into the pot. Sear on both sides for about 2-3 minutes each until lightly browned.

  6. 6

    Add Seasoning

Sprinkle salt and wild pepper over the fish. Pour in the soy sauce and mix gently to coat the fish.

  7. 7

    Add Water

Pour in the 500 ml of water to the pot. Ensure that the fish is mostly submerged.

  8. 8

    Simmer

Cover the pot and allow the fish to simmer on low heat for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.

  9. 9

    Add Bell Peppers

After simmering, add the diced green bell peppers to the pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  10. 10

    Serve

Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the stewed bamboo fish with wild peppers hot.
