Method

Preparing the Tikki

  1. 1

    Boil and Mash the Potatoes

In a large pot, boil the potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and let them cool. Once cooled, peel and mash them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mixture

In the bowl with the mashed potatoes, add the green peas, grated ginger, chopped green chilies, chopped cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are combined.

  3. 3

    Form the Patties

Once the mixture is well combined, take small portions and shape them into round patties (tikkis). Coat each patty with bread crumbs to create a crispy exterior.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tikkis

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the pan. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Assembling the Chaat

  1. 5

    Prepare the Base

On a serving plate, arrange the fried tikkis in a single layer.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Drizzle yogurt, tamarind chutney, and green chutney over the tikkis. Sprinkle chaat masala evenly on top.

  3. 7

    Garnish

Finish by adding sev and pomegranate seeds on top of the tikkis for an extra crunch and flavor.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while the tikkis are warm and enjoy your Tikki Chaat!
