Marinade
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- 2
Marinate the Shrimp
Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Ensure that each shrimp is coated well. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for better flavor.
Cooking
- 3
Preheat the Tandoor
If using a traditional tandoor, preheat it according to the manufacturer's instructions. If using an oven, preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 4
Prepare for Cooking
Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes if using, to prevent burning. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers.
- 5
Cook the Shrimp
Place the skewers in the tandoor or on a baking sheet if using an oven. Brush the shrimp lightly with cooking oil. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred.
- 6
Serve
Remove the skewers from the tandoor or oven and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with lemon wedges and your choice of dipping sauce.
