Marinade Preparation

Combine the Marinade
In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt.

Marinate the Lamb
Add the cubed lamb to the marinade mixture, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Sauté Onions
In a large skillet or pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add Garlic and Ginger
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in the crushed canned tomatoes and stir well. Cook for approximately 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to simmer and thicken.

Add Cream or Coconut Milk
Lower the heat and add the coconut milk or heavy cream. Stir to combine and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Combine Lamb with Sauce
Add the grilled lamb pieces to the sauce, mixing well. Cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Adjust salt to taste.

Sprinkle freshly chopped cilantro over the top of the lamb tikka masala.

Serve the lamb tikka masala hot with basmati rice or naan bread.
