Marinade
For Grilling
Method
Marinating the Lamb
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large mixing bowl, combine the plain yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, red chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
- 2
Add Fresh Herbs
Stir in the chopped fresh cilantro and mint into the marinade.
- 3
Marinate the Lamb
Add the cubed lamb shoulder to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for best flavor.
Preparing Skewers
- 4
Soak the Skewers
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.
- 5
Assemble the Skewers
Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with pieces of bell pepper and onion for added flavor and visual appeal.
Grilling the Kebabs
- 6
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C or 400°F).
- 7
Grill the Kebabs
Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked through and has a nice char on the outside.
- 8
Rest and Serve
Once cooked, remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve hot with naan bread or rice, and your favorite chutney.
