Marinade Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, combine the plain yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, salt, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Cut the boneless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Ensure that all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Cooking the Chicken
- 3
Grill the Chicken
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and thread onto skewers (if using). Grill the chicken pieces for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks. Remove from heat and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 4
Cook the Onions
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
- 6
Prepare the Sauce
Stir in the pureed canned tomatoes, salt, and cayenne pepper. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- 7
Add Cream and Chicken
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Add the grilled chicken pieces to the sauce and mix well. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Garnishing and Serving
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves over the Chicken Tikka Masala. Serve hot with rice or naan.
