Fish Marinade

Method

Marinating the Fish

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine the fish fillets with turmeric powder, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well to ensure the fish is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Marinate

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.

Preparing the Tomato Gravy

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Sauté Onions

Add the chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.

  3. 5

    Add Ginger and Garlic

Stir in the grated ginger and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Incorporate the Tomato Puree

Pour in the tomato puree and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the oil separates from the mixture.

  5. 7

    Add Spices

Stir in the fennel seeds, black pepper, red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Cooking the Fish

  1. 8

    Add the Fish

Gently place the marinated fish fillets into the gravy. Spoon some gravy over the fish.

  2. 9

    Simmer

Cover the pan and let the fish simmer in the gravy for about 10-15 minutes until cooked through and flaky.

  3. 10

    Garnish

Once cooked, remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
