Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.

Cook Fettuccine
Add 12 oz of fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta and reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water for later use.
Making the Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of butter.

Pour in 2 cups of heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.

Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.

Add 1 tsp of salt, black pepper to taste, and a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce. Stir well.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is achieved.
