Method

Pastry Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, beaten eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Pastries

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes (triangles, squares, etc.) and fill each with fruit preserves. Fold and seal the edges.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the shaped pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake the Pastries

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the pastries for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Glaze the Pastries

Let the pastries cool slightly. Mix powdered sugar with a little water to create a glaze and drizzle over the pastries before serving.
