Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Strawberries
Wash the strawberries and remove the stems. Slice them in halves or quarters depending on their size. Place them in a bowl.
- 2
Sweeten the Strawberries
Sprinkle a tablespoon of powdered sugar over the strawberries and gently toss to coat. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, pour the heavy cream, add the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Whip the cream until soft peaks form.
- 4
Crush the Meringue
In a separate bowl, crush the meringue nests into bite-sized pieces.
- 5
Assemble the Eton Mess
In serving glasses or bowls, layer the macerated strawberries, whipped cream, and crushed meringue. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately for the best texture, or chill briefly in the refrigerator before serving.
