Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions (about 0.5 pounds each) and shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Bacon Jam Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into small pieces.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Onion

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 5

    Make the Bacon Jam

Add the bacon back to the skillet along with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper. Stir and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the mixture becomes sticky. Set aside.

Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness is reached.

  2. 7

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of smoked Gruyere cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. 8

    Toast the Buns

In a separate skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brioche buns cut side down and toast until golden brown.

  4. 9

    Assemble the Burger

Place each patty on the bottom half of the toasted brioche bun, top with a generous spoonful of bacon jam, and cover with the top half of the bun.

Fries Preparation

  1. 10

    Cook the Fries

Prepare the frozen French fries according to the package instructions, typically baking or frying until crispy.

  2. 11

    Season the Fries

Once cooked, remove fries from heat and sprinkle with salt to taste.
