Method

Preparation

  1. 1

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help achieve a nice sear.

Seasoning

  1. 3

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Sprinkle this seasoning mix evenly over both sides of the ribeye steak.

  2. 4

Drizzle the olive oil over the seasoned steak and rub it in to ensure the steak is well-coated.

Cooking

  1. 5

Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat for about 5 minutes until very hot.

  2. 6

Add the ribeye steak to the skillet or grill. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a crust.

  3. 7

Flip the steak and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired doneness.

  4. 8

If using, add the sprig of rosemary and butter to the skillet during the last minute of cooking for added flavor. Baste the steak with the melted butter for a rich taste.

Resting

  1. 9

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 10

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak!
