Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ribs
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor and tenderness. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Dry Rub
In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Apply the Dry Rub
Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the fridge for best results.
Cooking
- 4
Slow Cook the Ribs
Place the ribs in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender. If you prefer, you can also cook in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for 2.5-3 hours wrapped in foil.
- 5
Prepare the Barbeque Sauce
In a saucepan, mix ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 6
Glaze the Ribs
Once the ribs are cooked, remove them from the slow cooker and brush them generously with the barbeque sauce. Optionally, you can broil them in the oven for 5-10 minutes for a caramelized finish.
Serving
- 7
Serve
Slice the ribs between the bones and serve hot with extra barbeque sauce on the side.
