Candle Making Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare Your Workspace

Set up your candle-making area by laying down newspaper or a protective covering to catch any spills. Gather all your ingredients and tools.

  2. 2

    Melt the Soy Wax

Fill the bottom pot of a double boiler with water and bring it to a simmer. Place the soy wax in the top pot. Heat gently until the wax is completely melted, stirring occasionally (approximately 10-15 minutes).

  3. 3

    Check the Temperature

Use a thermometer to check the temperature of the melted wax. The ideal pouring temperature is between 170°F and 180°F (77°C - 82°C).

  4. 4

    Add Fragrance and Dye

Once the wax is at the correct temperature, remove it from heat. Add the Mish Mish fragrance oil and stir for 2 minutes to ensure it is well incorporated. If using candle dye, add it now and stir until fully dissolved.

  5. 5

    Prepare Your Container

Secure the wick in the center of your container using a wick holder or a small amount of melted wax. Make sure it is straight.

  6. 6

    Pour the Wax

Carefully pour the melted wax into the prepared container, leaving a small amount of wax in the boiler. Pour slowly to minimize air bubbles.

  7. 7

    Secure the Wick

Adjust the wick to keep it centered as the wax begins to cool. You can use a wick holder or simply hold it in place until the wax starts to set.

  8. 8

    Cool and Cure

Allow the candle to cool completely at room temperature, which may take several hours. For the best scent throw, let it cure for at least 48 hours before burning.

  9. 9

    Trim the Wick

Once the candle is fully cooled and cured, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch above the wax surface before lighting.
