Baja Spinach & Feta Dip

Method

Baja Spinach & Feta Dip Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Spinach Mixture

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped red onion, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Spinach

Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Cheeses

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled spinach mixture, crumbled feta cheese, and softened cream cheese. Mix well until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to the cheese and spinach mixture. Mix again to distribute the seasoning evenly.

  5. 5

    Prepare for Breading

Set up a breading station with one bowl for the beaten eggs and another for the breadcrumbs.

  6. 6

    Form the Balls

Using your hands, scoop out portions of the spinach and cheese mixture, roll them into balls about 1 inch in diameter.

  7. 7

    Bread the Balls

Dip each ball into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off, then roll in the breadcrumbs until fully coated.

  8. 8

    Fry the Balls

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded spinach and feta balls in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  9. 9

    Bake the Balls (Optional)

For a healthier option, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the breaded balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
