For Poori

Method

For Poori

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water while kneading the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Cover with a moist cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Shape the Pooris

After resting, divide the dough into small equal parts (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each part into a small circle (about 4-5 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin. Make sure it is not too thin.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. To check if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of dough into the oil; if it bubbles and rises to the surface, the oil is ready.

  4. 4

    Fry the Pooris

Carefully slide one rolled poori into the hot oil. Gently press it with a slotted spoon to help it puff up. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove the poori and place it on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
