Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast is activated, add it to the flour along with yogurt and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Knead the mixture on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until a smooth dough forms. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Chop Ingredients

Finely chop the green chilies, onion, and fresh cilantro. Set aside for later use.

Rolling and Cooking

  1. 5

    Prepare Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal balls. Take one ball, flatten it slightly, and place 1-2 tablespoons of the filling in the center.

  2. 6

    Seal Filling

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal. Roll the stuffed dough ball out gently into a teardrop or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 7

    Cook Naan

Heat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Place the rolled naan on the skillet and cook for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles form. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Once cooked, brush the naan with ghee or melted butter, and sprinkle with minced garlic and salt before serving.
