Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Clean the chicken pieces thoroughly under running water and place them in a bowl.

  2. 2

    Sauté Onions

In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Ginger-Garlic Paste

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another 2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Spices

Add the turmeric powder, chicken masala, and salt to the pot. Stir well to mix the spices with the onion mixture.

  5. 5

    Introduce the Chicken

Add the cleaned chicken pieces to the pot. Stir well to coat the chicken with the spice mixture. Cook for about 10 minutes until the chicken starts browning slightly.

  6. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Green Chilies

Add the pureed tomatoes and slit green chilies to the pot. Mix well and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

    Add Curry Leaves

Once the tomatoes are cooked and the oil separates, add the curry leaves and stir to combine.

  8. 8

    Finish with Coconut

Add the grated coconut to the curry and mix well. Let it cook for an additional 5 minutes on low heat.

  9. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Turn off the heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve the Kodi Pulusu hot with rice or roti.
