Fish Marinade
Tikka Masala Sauce
Method
Fish Marinade Preparation
- 1
Marinate the fish
In a bowl, combine lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt to create a marinade.
- 2
Add yogurt
Add the plain yogurt to the marinade and mix well.
- 3
Coat the fish
Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and coat them thoroughly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
Tikka Masala Sauce Preparation
- 4
Cook the onions
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are golden brown.
- 5
Add tomato puree
Stir in the pureed tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes, until the oil separates from the mixture.
- 6
Finish the sauce
Reduce heat and add the cream, stirring until the sauce is creamy and heated through. Season with salt to taste.
Combine and Cook
- 7
Bake the marinated fish
Preheat your clay oven or tandoor. Once hot, place the fish pieces onto skewers and bake for about 10-12 minutes, until the fish is cooked through and has a slightly charred exterior.
- 8
Add fish to sauce
Gently fold the baked fish into the tikka masala sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to combine the flavors.
- 9
Garnish and serve
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with naan or steamed rice.
