Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Start by rinsing the boneless fish fillets under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. This ensures that the batter adheres well.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Fish

In a mixing bowl, add the fish fillets, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to coat the fish evenly and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Batter

In another bowl, mix besan, rice flour, and salt. Gradually add water to form a smooth batter that is not too thick. You should be able to coat the fish fillets well with the batter.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a small amount of batter into the oil. If it sizzles and rises to the top, the oil is ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Fish

Dip each marinated fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off. Carefully place the fillet in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.

  6. 6

    Drain and Garnish

Once golden, remove the fish fillets from the oil and let them drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the Amritsari Fish hot with lemon wedges and onion slices on the side. Enjoy!
