Method

Preparation

  1. 1

If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight and boil until tender. If using canned, rinse and drain the chickpeas.

  2. 2

Peel and dice the potatoes into small cubes.

  3. 3

Chop the onion and tomato, and slit the green chili.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat Oil and Sauté

In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

  3. 6

Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  4. 7

Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili. Sauté for an additional minute.

  5. 8

    Add Spices and Vegetables

Add the chopped tomato to the pan and cook until soft.

  6. 9

Stir in turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt, cooking for 2-3 minutes.

  7. 10

Add the diced potatoes and mix well, allowing them to coat with the spice mixture.

  8. 11

Pour in a little water if needed, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are tender.

  9. 12

    Final Touch

Once the potatoes are cooked, add in the chickpeas and garam masala, mixing gently.

  10. 13

Cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

  11. 14

Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
