Gather all the ingredients necessary for the Carajillo cocktail. Ensure that the espresso is freshly brewed and hot.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the Union Joven mezcal, Licor 43, and Fernet Vallet. Add the piloncillo and shake well until the mixture is combined and slightly chilled.

Pour the mixed spirits from the shaker over a glass filled with ice. Slowly pour the hot espresso shot over the spirits to create a layered effect.
