Base Ingredients

Mascarpone Mixture

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur for added flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of mascarpone cheese with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Whip the Cream

In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. This will add lightness to your tiramisu.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

  5. 5

    Separate Egg Yolks

In a separate bowl, whisk 3 egg yolks until they are pale and creamy. Gradually incorporate them into the mascarpone mixture, mixing well.

Layering the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, making sure not to soak them too long, as they can become too soggy.

  2. 7

    First Layer

Arrange half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish.

  3. 8

    Spread the Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.

  4. 9

    Second Layer

Repeat the process by dipping the remaining ladyfingers in coffee and placing them on top of the mascarpone layer.

  5. 10

    Final Layer

Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture over the second layer of ladyfingers, smoothing the top.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 11

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.

  2. 12

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired. Slice and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
