Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, lime juice, and sesame oil. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved. Add the shrimp, ensuring each piece is coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp (reserve the marinade for later) to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 3

    Reduce the Marinade

In the same skillet, pour in the reserved marinade and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  3. 4

    Combine and Serve

Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the thickened marinade. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through. Serve the shrimp over cooked rice or quinoa, garnished with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Add lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the dish.
