Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Marinade

  1. 1

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.

Marinating the Salmon

  1. 2

    Marinate the Salmon

Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the teriyaki sauce over them. Ensure the fillets are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for more flavor).

Cooking the Salmon

  1. 3

    Preheat the Oven or Grill

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or preheat a grill over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Salmon

Remove the salmon from the marinade, letting excess drip off. Place the fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or directly on the grill. Bake for 12-15 minutes or grill for about 6-8 minutes per side, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.

  3. 5

    Glaze the Salmon

During the last few minutes of cooking, brush the salmon with the reserved marinade for added flavor.

Serving the Dish

  1. 6

    Plate the Salmon

Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven or grill. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with cooked rice and steamed vegetables on the side.
