Cake Directions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

- 4
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gradually add boiling water to the batter, mixing until smooth.
- 5
Bake the Cakes
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Ganache Directions
- 7
Heat the Cream
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- 8
Melt the Chocolate
Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chocolate chips. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- 9
Add Butter
Stir in the butter until melted and fully incorporated into the ganache.
- 10
Cool the Ganache
Let the ganache cool at room temperature until it thickens slightly, about 15-20 minutes.
- 11
Frost the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Pour a portion of ganache over the top, then place the second layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
