Bruschetta Topping

Method

Prepare the Topping

  1. 1

    Chop the Tomatoes

Dice the Roma tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a medium mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Basil and Garlic

Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and mince the garlic cloves. Add both to the bowl with tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Add the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the mixing bowl. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Prepare the Bread

  1. 4

    Slice the Bread

Cut the baguette or Italian bread into approximately 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 5

    Toast the Bread

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush one side with extra virgin olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

Assemble the Bruschetta

  1. 6

    Top the Bread

Remove the toasted bread from the oven. Spoon a generous amount of the tomato and basil mixture onto the oiled side of each slice.

  2. 7

    Serve

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
