Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cutting the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick).

  2. 2

    Soaking the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Drying the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  3. 5

    Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the potatoes to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 6

    Draining and Seasoning

Remove the fried potatoes with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.
