Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with some melted butter.

Melt the Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Keep it warm.
Filling Preparation

Mix the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped pistachios, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well.
Layering the Baklava

Add the Filling
Sprinkle 1/4 of the nut mixture evenly over the layered filo.

Continue Layering
Continue layering filo sheets (8 more, each brushed with butter), followed by another 1/4 of the nut mixture. Repeat until all filling is used, finishing with 8 sheets of buttered filo on top.

Cut the Baklava
Before baking, use a sharp knife to cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.

Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Making the Syrup

Prepare the Syrup
While the baklava is baking, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of water, honey, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

Cool the Syrup
Remove from heat and let the syrup cool while the baklava finishes baking.
Finishing Touches

Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over it, ensuring it seeps into all the cuts.

Let the baklava cool completely before serving. Cut along the original cuts to separate the pieces.
