Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take the chicken breasts, place them between two pieces of plastic wrap, and pound them to an even thickness of about 1 inch.
- 2
Set up Breading Station
In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour seasoned with salt and pepper in the first dish, beat the eggs in the second dish, and combine the breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan cheese in the third dish.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then dip in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- 4
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a baking dish.
Toppings
- 5
Add Marinara and Cheese
Pour marinara sauce evenly over the top of each chicken breast. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the marinara.
- 6
Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
If using, sprinkle fresh basil over the top before serving. Serve hot with pasta or a side salad.
