Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bread
Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Combine Bread and Custard
Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and add the raisins. Gently fold to ensure all the bread is soaked.

Prepare Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter and pour the bread mixture into the dish.

Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Vanilla Sauce

Prepare the Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the cup of milk, sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until the cornstarch is dissolved.

Cook the Sauce
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

Add Vanilla
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Serve the warm bread pudding with a generous drizzle of vanilla sauce on top.
