Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Make the Custard Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Bread and Custard

Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and add the raisins. Gently fold to ensure all the bread is soaked.

  5. 5

    Prepare Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter and pour the bread mixture into the dish.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

  7. 7

    Cool Slightly

Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Vanilla Sauce

  1. 8

    Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the cup of milk, sugar, cornstarch, and water. Stir until the cornstarch is dissolved.

  2. 9

    Cook the Sauce

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

  3. 10

    Add Vanilla

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 11

    Serve

Serve the warm bread pudding with a generous drizzle of vanilla sauce on top.
