Cake and Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

In another bowl, cream the butter until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

  5. 5

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Tres Leches Mixture

In a bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.

  7. 7

Once the cake is cool, poke holes all over the top using a fork. Pour the tres leches mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  8. 8

    Make the Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and paprika until stiff peaks form.

  9. 9

Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake.

  10. 10

    Serve

Top with sliced strawberries, pineapple chunks, and shredded coconut. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
