Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich Ingredients
Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and 1 teaspoon of salt. Add the chicken thighs ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In another bowl, mix together the flour, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and remaining salt.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the seasoned flour. Fry the chicken pieces for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 4
Make the Nashville Hot Rub
In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the Nashville hot chicken seasoning with 1 tablespoon of the frying oil. Brush this mixture over the fried chicken while it's still hot.
- 5
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each burger bun. Place a piece of hot chicken on top, followed by a lettuce leaf. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 6
Serve with Fries
Serve the Nashville hot chicken sandwich alongside hand-cut fries for a complete meal.
