Potatoes
Optional Dipping Sauce
Method
Preparing the Potatoes
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure that the fries cook evenly and become crispy.
- 2
Wash and Cut the Potatoes
Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under running water to remove any dirt. Cut each potato into thick wedges, approximately 1-inch wide.
- 3
Soak the Potato Wedges
Place the cut potato wedges in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
- 4
Drain and Dry
After soaking, drain the water and pat the potato wedges dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
Seasoning and Baking
- 5
Season the Potatoes
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dried potato wedges with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss until all the wedges are evenly coated.
- 6
Arrange on Baking Sheet
Spread the seasoned potato wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they are not overcrowded to allow for even baking.
- 7
Bake the Fries
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
- 8
Serve Hot
Once baked, remove the fries from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with your choice of optional dipping sauce.
