Sandwich Ingredients

Method

Sandwich Preparation

1

Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Pat the Ahi tuna steaks dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a good sear. Season both sides of the tuna steaks with salt and black pepper.

2

Heat the Oil

In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to become hot but not smoking.

3

Sear the Tuna

Once the oil is hot, gently place the seasoned tuna steaks in the skillet. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare to medium-rare. Adjust the time depending on your desired doneness.

4

Slice the Tuna

Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, slice the seared tuna into thin strips.

5

Prepare the Bread

While the tuna is resting, slice the ciabatta buns in half. Optionally, you can toast them lightly in the skillet.

6

Prepare the Filling

Slice the avocado and tomato. Set aside.

7

Assemble the Sandwich

Spread 2 tablespoons of wasabi mayonnaise on the bottom half of each ciabatta bun. Layer with lettuce, sliced avocado, sliced tomato, and the sliced seared tuna.

8

Finish and Serve

Top with the other half of the ciabatta bun. Cut the sandwich in half if desired, and serve immediately.
