Cook the Onions
Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for about 20-30 minutes until they become golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, and black pepper.

Simmer the Mixture
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Allow it to simmer for about 10-15 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Prepare the Rolls
Slice the French rolls or baguettes in half and lightly toast them if desired.

On the bottom half of each roll, layer the thinly sliced beef, a generous portion of caramelized onions, and top with slices of white American cheese.

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
