Method
Cooking the Ravioli
- 1
Prepare the ravioli
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cheese ravioli and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 4-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Making the Creamy Tomato Sauce
- 2
Sauté the aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- 3
Cook the shrimp
Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
- 4
Add tomatoes and cream
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and mix well until combined. Let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- 5
Finish with basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil into the sauce. Adjust seasoning if necessary. Cook for another minute to let the flavors meld.
Serving the Dish
- 6
Combine and Serve
Toss the cooked ravioli in the creamy shrimp pomodoro sauce until well coated. Serve immediately, garnished with shaved Parmesan cheese and extra basil on top. If desired, serve with garlic bread on the side.
