Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the 12 oz NY Sirloin steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Then sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder evenly over both sides of the steak. Finally, add fresh rosemary by sprinkling it on top.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F to 500°F). If using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are hot and glowing.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned NY Sirloin steak on the grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare doneness. Flip the steak and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side.

  3. 5

    Check doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should be around 130°F to 135°F. Adjust grilling time for desired doneness.

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Optional Side Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Asparagus

While the steak is grilling, wash the asparagus and trim the ends. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill alongside the steak for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally until tender.

  2. 8

    Prepare Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into wedges. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast them in the oven at 400°F for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown, or grill them wrapped in foil for the last 10-15 minutes alongside the steak.
