Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Cut the Potatoes
Cut the peeled potatoes into strips about 1/4 inch thick. Try to keep the sizes uniform for even frying.
- 3
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 5
Drain and Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potato strips and lay them out on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture.
- 6
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a handful of potato strips to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry them for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Remove and Drain
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Seasoning
- 8
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss gently to coat evenly.
Serving
- 9
Serve the Fries
Serve the fresh cut fries immediately while hot. Enjoy them as a side dish or a snack!
