Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the dry ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine and knead the dough
Once the yeast is activated, pour it into the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the dough rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- 6
Prepare the crust
After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a pizza stone or a baking sheet.
- 7
Add the sauce
Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 8
Add the cheese
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the marinara sauce, followed by the grated parmesan cheese.
- 9
Season the pizza
Sprinkle dried oregano and black pepper over the cheese to add flavor.
- 10
Bake the pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Garnish and serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, and garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
