Method

Prepare Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball, and place them on a plate.

Cook Meatballs

  1. 3

    Brown Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Make Bolognese Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. 6

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Add crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  4. 7

    Simmer Sauce

Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes on low heat.

Cook Pasta

  1. 8

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water (1 tablespoon of salt) to a boil.

  2. 9

    Cook Spaghetti

Add spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 10

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot.

Combine and Serve

  1. 11

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until well coated.

  2. 12

    Garnish

Serve the pasta on plates, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
