Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). While the oven is heating, remove the membrane from the back of the baby back ribs by sliding a knife under the membrane and pulling it off. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Dry Rub

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

Rub the dry rub mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Bake the Ribs

Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover with another sheet of aluminum foil to keep them moist. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours or until tender.

  2. 5

    Prepare the BBQ Sauce

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce simmers and thickens, about 10-15 minutes.

  3. 6

    Glaze the Ribs

After baking, remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs.

  4. 7

    Broil the Ribs

Increase the oven temperature to broil. Place the ribs back in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning. Remove when the sauce is caramelized.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
