Curry Fried Catfish Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, curry powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Catfish

Add the catfish fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, combine all-purpose flour and cornmeal. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  5. 5

    Bread the Catfish

Remove the marinated catfish from the fridge. Dredge each fillet in the flour and cornmeal mixture, pressing gently to ensure it adheres.

  6. 6

    Fry the Catfish

Carefully place the breaded catfish fillets into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried catfish from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and lemon wedges.
