Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Cut the beef sirloin into bite-sized chunks. Season with salt and black pepper. Toss with cornstarch to coat evenly.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the onion, chop the bell pepper, and mince the garlic. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Orange Peel

Use a zester or a vegetable peeler to remove the outer skin of the orange, making sure to avoid the white pith.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 5

    Cook the Beef

Add the beef chunks to the skillet in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 6

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the diced onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

  4. 7

Add the Orange Peel and Hot Sauce

Stir in the orange peel and hot sauce. Let simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 8

    Combine and Serve

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to combine with the sauce and vegetables. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper, if needed. Serve hot.
