Method
Prepare the Marinated Beef
- 1
Slice the Beef
Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Add the sliced beef and mix well to coat. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Cook the Rice
- 3
Rinse the Rice
Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 4
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- 5
Cook the Vegetables
- 6
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of sesame oil. Add the julienned carrots, sliced bell pepper, and zucchini. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still crisp.
- 7
Cook the Beef
- 8
Cook the Marinated Beef
In the same skillet used for the vegetables, add the marinated beef along with the marinade. Cook over medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
Assemble the Dish
- 9
Serve the Bulgogi Bop
In serving bowls, place a generous scoop of steamed rice. Top with the sautéed vegetables and the cooked marinated beef. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
